PROTOCOL OF EXAMINATION
Reporting at registration time at reception counter.
Prepayment of consultant's fees and collection of his/her slip at the reception
counter.
New patients: Patient will also be given an information
brochure about hospital and his/her reference card
along with.
Information form has to be filed while old patient's files are
traced in the waiting hall.
Patient has to wait in waiting hall for his/her turn to be
examined by Optometrist. The history vision and intra
ocular pressure will be checked.
Thereafter if necessary the pupils will be dilated using eye
drops. This procedure takes 30 minutes onwards.
Once the pupils are dilated the anterior segment is examined
by a doctor.
The patient is then examined by the concerned consultant opthalmologist.
If any investingations are advised, they are usually
carried out on the same day and are arranged by the
reception staff.
The patient is then reviewed by the consultant after the Investigation. Some
treatments such as laser, minor surgeries may be
performed on the same day.
After consultation, the patient has to return the slip at
reception.
When a patient registers his/her name at a short notice (SHORT
NOTICE REGISTRATION), their waiting time is longer than
the patient who have registered their name 1 month in
advance(ROUTINE REGISTRATION).
In both the registration routes there will be a minimum waiting
period of 2 hrs. There can be a further delay.
