LASIK & REFRACTIVE SURGERY

FREEDOM FROM GLASSES AND CONTACT LENS

1.What is LASIK?
LASIK(LASER IN SITU KERATOMILEUSIS is an advanced laser technique that PERMANTENTLY eliminates you dependence on corrective eyewear i.e. glasses / contact lenses with the resultant lifestyle advantages

2. How long been LASIK performed?
Opthalmologists have been reshaping the cornea for over 50 yrs. now. LASIK has been performed internationally for approximately 10 yrs. with all the latest machines available (Here we meet the criteria).

3. Is the procedure painful? How long does it take?
The procedure is painless; some sensation of pressure may be experienced during the creation of the flap. For few hous the eye may be uncomfortable which settles down rapidly. No sedation, no eyepad, no injection only eye drop anesthesia. It takes around 15 mins 20 mins for one eye.

4. Upto what number can LASIK correct?
A wide range of refractive errors can be corrected including nearsightedness, farsightedness & astigmatism.
Nearsightedness (Minus number) 0 to 22 diopter.
Farsightedness (Plus number) 0 to +5 diopter.
Astigmation(Cylindrical) 0 to 6 diopter cyl.

5. When can I see after LASIK?
The recovery of vision following LASIK is repid. One can resume normal activities after 24 hrs to 48 hrs. No physical, visual or dietary restrictions are necessary.

6. How long do I need to be off work?
Generally you can resume work after 48 hrs. However, for people working in a dusty environment, It is pudent to take rest for few more days.

7. How successful is this procedure?
In the overwhelming majority of people (more than 96%), LASIK is completly successful in avoiding the need for the glasses. Sometimes, a second enhancement treatment may be required to achieve.

CRITERIA FOR LASIK
  • Age more than 18 years.
  • Corneal thickness more than 480 microns will be evaluated by us.
  • Completed retinal evaluation.
  • Corneal topography.
  • RGP/Semi soft lens wear to be discontinued 3 weeks prior to LASIK.
  • Soft contact lens wear to be discontinued 2 weeks before LASIK.
